First you need to be sure you have moles or voles.Moles eat insects etc Voles eat roots etc.
If it is moles you have two choices,poison/traps or going after the food supply which is primarily grubs.
This time of year is the wrong time to pursue grubs, that would have to wait until next spring,so the only choice now is trying the various mole killers.different businesses will stock different products.some are regional versus nationally available and some areas have restrictions on poison based products. There are also a couple types of traps which essentially stab the ground with spikesGo to a local hardware store, garden center etc and seek out knowledgeable saleshelp to find out what is available to you.
You would want to apply one of the various grub control products starting in the spring. That too varies and ranges from insecticides to milky spore. Many of these products involve more than one application.
As for Voles I'm not sure there are any alternatives to poisons. If you see near by plants with dead sections or flowers etc that have died off mysteriously,or even in some cases dissappeared like they were pulled underground that's voles.
Before any attempts of any control walk around and step on some of the mounds then look the next day for the ones that have been raised back up to determine which are active.
