I want to use my T.V. as a monitor, but am having trouble setting the resolution. The T.V. manual asks for a resolution of 1360 x 768 for a 16 : 9 picture, but my Acer Aspire 3690 Laptop computer will not go up to this setting. Anything near that resolution and the monitor is "out of range". Your comments would be appreciated.
I used a 42" inch T.V. as a monitor for about 5 years and didn't have any problems.

I think that the problem is probably exactly what you are staying.. if your computer does not have the ability to match the resolution of the TV your picture will not be displayed or be displayed with poor quality. You will have to either turn the resolution down on the television to match the resolution of the computers or upgrade your video card to be able to reach that high of a resolution. The 42" is much smalled then a 50". Resolution is directly related to size and capability. The reason the 42" worked is because it was able to match up with your laptop. I hope that helped.
