I have a GE nat. gas dryer (model DBL333, 5 yrs. old). I put a load of clothes in the morning, worked fine. On the second load, however, it did not start tumbling. The start dial/switch makes a buzzer noise when I turn it, but the dryer does not start tumbling. I cleared lint from the tray and the vent all the way to the outside of the house (it was relatively clean to begin with). The circuit in the basement panel box has not been triggered. Still no luck. Please advise. Thank you for your time.

Is it a buzz from consul area or more like a loud hum from lower in thw dryer??? Loud hum most likely motor. Reach inside dryer and turn drum if turns freely possible broken belt.

It is a loud buzzer noise (like the intercoms at old apartment buildings that buzz you in) coming from the back area of machine. I can turn the drum but with force, not easily.

Hello: Joey

My Two Cents....:D

Most likely the problem is as mentioned. Defective motor. Buzz or hum from the motor usually indicates the starter windings in the motor failed. Only solutions is to replace the motor.

Drum rotation with some force needing to be applied indicates belt not broken and motor armature not frozen. Nor any binding of the drum and/or pulleys, etc. Condition normal.

Make a hand drawing of the belts positions around, over and under pulleys before removing it. Then replace motor and reinstall belt exactly as it is now. Very likely to resolve the problem.

More details, instructions and helpful advice in the sticky note. Suggest reading the section pertaining to belt replacement.
