You can go hereKENMORE | Model #11638912892 | UPRIGHT VACUUM CLEANER | NOZZLE | SearsPartsDirect.com (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=11638912892&productCategoryId=0645000&brandId=0582&modelName=UPRIGHT-VACUUM-CLEANER&diagramPageId=00001&componentDescription=NOZZLE&documentId=P9120281&blt=06)and it will show you a break down of you model vac. Slide the 2 locks (labeled as #4 in diagram) away from each other and pull up the cover.Next you will have to remove beater bar cover (Labeled #8 in diagram) there should be 2 clips built in that you have to press forward to release it.If it has never been open you should already have an extra belt tucked away behind the height adjuster under the cover that you can use.
After you get the belt on and the beater bar back in place you need to put the cover back on and watch carefully for the little hooks on the front to make sure you "hing" them in place before snapping the cover down.Next, place the final cover back on and slide tabs towards center to lock into place.
I worked on vacs for 6+ years,Hope this helps...
