I want to do a kitchen facelift that includes painting existing cabinets, having a new countertop installed w/ new sink, and tiling a backsplash.

Questions:
1) Do I have to remove the cabinets for any of this, or can I paint in place?

2) In what order should things be done?
paint>tile>counter top install
OR
paint>countertop>tile?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

The doors and drawers should be removed along with all the hardware but the bulk of the cabinets can be primed and painted in place. The order in which things are done often relies on scheduling, there isn't a right or wrong order. Many like to do all the painting first but the tile and countertop installation will result in a need for some paint touch. If you paint last, then care must be used to keep the tile and countertop clean.

Here's some good info on repainting cabinets; http://forum.doityourself.com/painting/292098-ideal-cabinet-repaint.html
