I like to ride my go-Kart a lot (Well now that winter is coming I can't as much:D) But I was thinking about adding a stereo to it. Currently there is no battery on it at all. I currently have a 12V SLA 12.5AH (From a really big computer UPS that got hit by a big surge but the battery is still good) I already have a "Extra" Car stereo (I pulled it from my wrecked 2005 Trailblazer , Not my fault some idiot was not paying attention and smashed it while it was parked) any way I have the radio + Harness + the two front speakers so I was wondering how I would do this. I have had the radio working fine in the car and I even powered it up in the house using an ATX computer Power supply so I know it still works. So was wondering about how to mount the thing and since I will be adding a battery do I need to ground the kart or just hook up the radio + Speakers, and of course an antenna and be done with it. I will not be adding any other electrical items to the cart at this time just the stereo

Here is a picture of the stereo I want to use front + back images

I don't know what model the kart is, or much about it I just know how to add gas/oil to it (I have someone else maintain it for me)

Since you do not have anything else electrical on the cart I would just wire the radio to the battery and not ground the cart frame. You can put a inline fuse in the + wire running from the battery to protect against electrical shorts. Place the fuse as close to the battery as possible.

Mounting the radio and battery is totally up to you. You can make some simple steel brackets, plastic wire ties or even a roll of duct tape. You just need to figure out what will work on your cart and not get in the way.

Go carts can shake, bounce and vibrate quite a lot. On my racing karts I put the battery in a foam lined battery tray to protect the battery from the worst bumps. You might also want to put your radio on rubber mounts or wrap it with foam or something to absob vibration so it does not get shaken apart.

Post a picture when you get it all together.
