When removing a loose toilet I found the plastic flange broken. Whats the best way to remove/replace the old flange? Is there an easy way to remove the damaged flange? The flange is attached to pvc piping that is in concrete.
Thanks in advance.

Most hardwares or do-it-yourself stores sell a steel reinforcement ring that you can screw to the old pvc flange. Screw that on, clean the old wax off, put a new one on and reset the toilet. Nothing to it.

The flange is broken to the point that a metal reenforcement will not do any good. Its cracked thru to where the flange is coming off of the pipe. I've cut the top of the flange off the pipe and have found two possible replacements. One that fits inside the 3" pipe and one that fits on the outside of the combination of the pipe and what is left over from the original flange. I would like to use the one that fits on the outside, but there is very small gap between the new flange and the old pipe. Will the glue fill the gap? Will I have to use the smaller one? The smaller one reduces the opening by about 1/4" of an inch. Will this reduction cause problems? Thanks in advance:confused:

I would use the one that fits inside because the water flow would be correct. The smaller size shouldn't make a difference because the flushway in the toilet is smaller that the flange opening and cause no problems.

I decided to use the smaller one simply for the fit, hopefully everything goes down OK. Got it glued on solid as a rock. Thanks for the helpBeer 4U2

I can use a hammer & screwdriver to break the glued joint and remove the remaing flange.
