I have an old EFM boiler model # EB3C28. The will not shut off even if the thermostat is set at the lowest temperature. Would a new thermostat correct this problem ? Thank you for any information. Lee

Lee,

Is this boiler a single zone system, or you got more than one zone (T-stat)?

If it is a single zone, you can try undoing one of the wires on the t-stat and see if that stops.. if it stops, then it's the t-stat.

If it still goes, then go down to the boiler where the wire meets up, and undo one of the wire there. if it stops, then you may have a short in the wire between the boiler and t-stat.

If it still goes when the is undone at the boiler than it's something on the boiler itself.

Hi Jay, I unhooked the wire from the thermostat and also from the boiler but it still heats all the time. Do you know where the problem could be. It heats with the thermostat taken completely out of the circuit. Thanks. Lee

Lee,

I looked online for a manual or something on line for it, and not able to find anything.

I'm guessing there is a relay or two, and it may be stuck. Can you take a photo of your boiler, and also the wire diagram?

Hi Jay, I looked the boiler over again and found a relay with burned points. So I checked the number and found a new relay on the Honey well internet site. Many thanks for the excellent advice. Lee

Glad you were able to find the issue, and got it fixed.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Jay, My relay came in but I was wondering what could have caused the old relay to burn out. Should I just install the new relay and hope that it will fix the problem. Or should I check to see if all the elements read ok, and do you know how to test them ? Thank you . Lee

It can be a numbers of thing.

Guess the main thing is when you do put the new one in, watch it and make sure it's a solid snap/close on call of heat. If it's chattering, then you may have a weak transformer.
