I am about to have my bedroom walls sprayed with a knoc-down finish to cover some bad places on the walls. The ceiling is now the 'popcorn' ceiling & the popcorn finish is in good shape, except that I hate popcorn ceilings. If I scrap the popcorn finish off while we remodeling, what kind of finish would look okay with knock-down walls? Do you do the ceiling in knock-down also? Any suggestions appreciated.

Welcome to the forums Cheryl!

Knockdown texture is often used on ceilings. My house has knockdown on the ceiling and no texture on the walls. I've painted a lot of houses where both the ceiling and walls had the same texture. Some will opt to have a heavier knockdown texture on the ceiling and a lighter version on the walls.

While texture will help disguise defects in the wall/ceiling, it won't eliminate them. It's best to have the walls in as good a shape as feasable prior to adding texture.
