Does anyone know of a source for generic interlocking weather stripping gray that can be used on sliding patio doors?

Background: I have a number of older Andersen sliding doors on my home (pre-finished wood terratone) ca: 1978 that are in need of new weather stripping.

My problem is that these doors are now manufacture discontinued and Andersen wants about $350 for the 6 foot double panel and $640 for the nine foot 3 panel doors, WEATHERSTRIPPING only. They are extruded interlocking and weather strip components that should, if mass produced, cost no more than $50-100 per door. But they have you by the xxxxx.

Unfortunately our disposable manufacturing industry would prefer that these doors just be replaced instead of updated.

Thanks. Any comments or questions I can also be reached at thomasv260ataolcom (with the appropriate @and .)

To answer the actual question..no I don't know a source..but are you sure of those numbers?

Less than 4 yrs ago I got parts for a similar aged door for waaay less than that. Have you spoken to a cust serv supervisor at Andersen? Or just online? If they still stock it, no way it should be that much. They may also have a replacement that will work. Get on the phone with a tech or supervisor...thats my best advice. My contacts at the support center are long gone...wish I could help more....

Thanks for the reply, but I've checked it several places starting with Andersen customer service and HD. HD does discount it slightly. I checked it too several years ago and it was not that high although it was still expensive. Their stock is being depleted.

If Andersen doesn't want to produce the stuff reasonably for their customers, then they should sell the manufacturing rights and dies to another extruder. It is crazy to force customers to spend that much on older less energy efficient doors, but even crazier to require customers to spend that much just for interlock weather stripping or to buy and install new doors.
