I have a Maytag MMV5000ADW Microwave that recently stopped heating. It still sounds like it is working but it makes an unusual humming/buzzing noise while running. It also gives off an unusual smell that smells like someone is welding in my kitchen.

Pull the plug on the microwave.
It sounds like either a high voltage problem or the magnetron. It is not something you'd really want to try to fix on your own.
Repair it or replace it.

i figured that is what it was :(
it was one of the only good Maytag products i've bought in the past 10 years
it says it is 1450 watts.....and i can't find anything close
