Folks:
The walls in my house are plaster with a white coat. One room
has had wallpaper on it since the house was built.I now want to paint but the walls need cracks and corners repaired.I have been told I have to use durabound 90.MY question is can I paint
on the durabound 90 or do I have to put a coat of dry wall compound on first.I'm having a hard time smothing out the 90.
Thank you in advance for your help.

by now you have probably figured out that Durabond does not sand easily. It may well be harder than the whitecoat. Now maybe you have a harder finish than whitecoat but probably not.
It's better to have to use two coats of Durabond than to try to put on too much not get it laid down and have to try to sand it.
You should be able to prime and paint the Durabond but if you need to use some joint mud to smooth it out that is fine too.
it won't be as hard as either the Durabond or the whitecoat finish but paint will toughen it up some.

The only issues associated with painting over durabond is IF the durabond hasn't fully cured it can "burn" the color out of the primer and paint - another coat of paint will fix that.
I often use durabond but I like to use regular ready mix joint compound for the final coat because it is so much easier to sand. As tightcoat said, durabond should always be applied as neatly as possible..... but you know that now ;)

I'm just finishing up a 3600 sq foot house that every room was wall papered and under all the wall paper were at least 3600 cracks. I taped all the cracks and used regular joint compound. Just be sure to use a 12" joint knife and the cracks will be gone.
