A storm a few months back blew off our chimney cap and we just recently got a ladder to go up and replace it. It has rained quite a bit since it happened. What is the probability of mold forming from this and will it be easy to detect?

More than likely you should be safe from mold.

you should ok as long as you let it dry out be for you put it back on.
