I have an Ademco 5137AD Keypad that needs to be replaced. The system is a 4140XMP with a 4280 RF Receiver/Transponder and a series of 5716 wireless trasmitters (the units on the windows) and 5706 wireless smoke detectors.

I was told that the 6160 was compatible, since the 6160 is alphanumeric, as is the 5137. However, the 5137 has 5 wires (in order Green, Black, Red, Blue, Yellow) -- while the 6160 only accomodates 4 wires.

Is there another 5 wire keypad that would be compatible with my system, even if it is older. I am told the 5137 is no longer available, but perhaps there is a keypad that predates the 6160 that still can accomodate 5 wires.

Thanks.

As an alternative, does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the chirping from a 5137 keypad? There are no faults in my system, and no low batteries -- but one of my three 5137 keypads is still chirping, often a series of rapid chirps in a row. Other than the chirping, this keypad seems to be working fine. The problem is that it is keeping us up at night.

Thanks.

If you check the wiring harness, you will find that the blue wire is not connected to anything. It was intended for some type of 2-way feature that only a couple of their systems supported, and was never really used.

Swap out your "chirper", you will be happier.

Thanks for your response.

Would the 6160 work OK with my system?

Also, I assume from your response that it is not possible for me to continue using my existing keypad -- or to get the chirping to stop.

Thanks again.

Honeywell/Ademco lists it as compatible with 4140xmp.
