can the wall paint be added to the powder when mixing it in the hopper? this way the hopper textured material will not have to be painted after it is put on the wall.

Welcome to the forums!
You could add paint to the texture and it would make the texture less water soluable but it isn't a good substitute for primer and finish paint. Also spraying texture tends to be very messy and with the paint added to the texture errant spots will be harder to clean up once it dries.

thanks for the advice. i will stick to the primer and paint method after the texture is applied.:)
