I am building a Gambrel Roof Barn. I want to completely span the ground floor with no supports in teh center of the main floor beams. The span is 28 feet. I want 4 beams to divide over a 40 foot length of the barn. I am going to put 2 x 12's on top of these 4 beams for the actual floor joist. How big of a beams need to be used to span 28 feet of floor space? whether glulam or LVL joist??? this is going to be a hay loft an storage for misc. stuf.
