What is the best way to transition between the cement board around the tub and the drywall in the rest of the bathroom?

If the tile will cover the joint, then use alkalai resitant tape and thinset to mud the joint. If the tile will stop short of the joint, use regular mesh drywall tape and drywall joint compound.
