I need to build a rustic style 40-ft long stretch of fence out of alder logs. I'll be cutting alders that grow all around the place for material. The one I need to build needs to have a swinging gate 4-ft wide located about 15 feet from one end. Here's kind of an example (first picture) of a fence built out of alder logs/branches that someone else built on the property.

I've begun the fence so far without a real vision or plan how exacly it should appear when done. It doesn't matter too much the particular design, as long as it looks decent and is stable and reasonably sturdy. In the next two pictures you can see that I've installed the two end posts already, which are six-foot alder posts buried two feet into the ground. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb153/sgull1/IMG_1236.jpg

Initial plans are to put a post every five feet. Am unsure of the rest of the design and how to attach the horizontal pieces. The example in the first picture they used nails, I guess I could do that unless somebody has a different idea. Also am unsure about how to go about making the swinging gate and have it so it's not going to start sagging like gates do if they aren't built right. Any comments/suggestions on how I might proceed would be appreciated.
