I've got a number of areas on my lawn that are slowly being overrun by creeping charlie. Has anyone had success in killing it, and if so, how?

I missed my window of opportunity this past spring but the chemical to use is a multi-purpose broad leaf herbicide like Killex or Premium Three way.
Creeping Charlie is very resistant to herbicides but you can have some success if you apply it in the early spring when it first starts actively growing but before any signs of flowering.
Just prior to flowering the leaves develop a waxy coating that makes them impervious to chemicals.
You need to get on it before it takes over completely.

Thanks for the tip. I used Weed Be Gone Max twice. Once in mid spring and once mid summer. I think it worked better in the spring but I don't think I put it on early enough. In the summer, the leaves turned brownish in a day or so, but that's about it.

Ive had the best luck killing it in the fall using Gordon's Tri-Mec h broadleaf herbicide. I first hit it with cheap laundry detergent in a hose end sprayer (ala Jerry Baker Master Gardener), Then twice about 2 weeks apart with the Gordon's. You'll have to get it from a farm supply store. It's not found in big bos stores. Good luck
