I have 6 teak dining chairs that were painted all different colors when I bought them. I have stipped them as much as I can (some paint in the wood grooves won't come out) and would now like to paint them in a lacquer or something similar. What paint should I use and what is the most effective way to paint something with grooves like this so that I get a smooth finish? The chairs are mid century originals an I am a little afraid of ruining them.

Teak is not something you normally see inside, but I suppose you use them inside. Teak is a beautiful wood, best left in a natural finish, oil finish, polyurethane, etc., but not paint. That said..........Black lacquer comes to mind for a dinning room setting. Very shiney, fairly durable finish, easy to do with spray cans. I would not be concerned about grain showing thru, but you might be. There are fillers available at home and local paint stores to fix that.
