Hello,

We are on well water in our 23 year old house. Last November, we completely renovated a bathroom which included a new 1 piece toilet. The previous toilet had a significant ring of a deposit of some sort (maybe calcium or lime??) at the water line in the bowl which I figured was an accumulation after 23 years. Now my 11 month old toilet is developing the same issue. I realize I have an issue with my water treatment system which needs to be addressed but my question here today is.....how do I remove that deposit? Please, not another recommendation for CLR.....that product hasn't done jack for me and I've tried it various ways and at full strength.

Any suggestions??

Buy a pumice stick and the best one is called the Pumie. This is an abrasive bar of pumice but don't let that scare you.Pumice is extremely fine volcanic ash based and does a great job on exactly what you're dealing with.I've sold hundreds and it always gets raves and repeat customers.

Spdavid,

Thank you! I will try that Pumie and report back the results. Appreciate your feedback.

spdavid,

The pumie worked great! Thank you so much for that advice. I see I will have to do this periodically to maintain. I wonder if there is a product...maybe something that goes in the tank that can help prevent the buildup. Being on septic now, I am pretty careful about limiting chemicals into the system. I wonder if there is a natural type product that would go in the tank and discharge periodically to help with the deposit buildup. Do you know??

The pumice sticks do work great don't they? Just use lots of water as you rub.

As to chemicals..I doubt it. Unless you put a water softener system in, nothing will prevent the ring right at the water line. I have the same issue here on city water that's pretty hard..and I just use the pumice every 3-4 months or so.

No chemicals on a septic!

Actually, we have a decent water softener system that is well maintained but am still getting some deposits. I think I will just use the pumice sticks occasionally. Yep, I agree on the septic.
