I have a double-drop jet pump system that has been working correctly until recently. Now the pump will not charge up. I went down into the well today, pulled up the foot valve and checked it out. The check valve seems to be in good working order. I then poured as much water as possible into the pump (and hence into the piping), which didn't seem to be nearly enough to fill them, but the pump is filled to overflowing. When the pump is turned on it does not build any pressure. It is presently disconnected from the tank, I am just using the outlet valve to open/close. Any ideas?

All I can do is parrot what others say to do since I am a big fan of submersibles. The double pipe rigs aren't any cheaper and submersibles are much more reliable.

How old is this pump? Did you clean out the jet while you had the pipe up and looking at the check valve?
