I recently bought a house in Az and have grass int he front yard that has been taken over by what i think is crab grass but I am not sure. I have tried pulling it, weed and feeding it, and cutting it very low to get rid of it. It started in one corner of my yard and now has taken over almost the entire lawn.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are a couple of pictures of what the weed looks like!

From the photograph, it does not appear to be crabgrass. Nevertheless, what it appears to be is also an annual weed. It should die back when winter arrives.
I find that annual weeds are best controlled by applying a pre-emergent herbicide in the late winter. You can check with your local cooperative extension service to find out the most opportune time to apply a pre-emergent.
A healthy lawn can keep weeds from becoming established. Proper watering, feeding, and core aeration will help the grass become thicker and stronger. Eventually, weeds become less and less of a problem.
Hope this helps.

yeah I am not sure if it is crab grass or not. I guess I will have to bring a picture in to the local lawn care store to see if they have any ideas. When I bought the house the lawn was completely dead and I have brought it to life so far. I hate that weed though, makes the whole yard look like crap. Plus it grows so fast so I cut it and then three days later its back with a vengeance.
Thanks for the help!
