I just bought a used home (built in 1992) and I am finding my water usage extremely high. So, I ran my sprinkler zones and recorded how much water each zone uses in 5 minutes. One of my zones uses over 400 gallons in 5 minutes so I know there is a leak. The question is how do I find it?

I would start by looking for a damp spot or somewhere things seem to grow better than elsewhere. Unfortunately, digging is next.

It is also possible that this zone is simply using more water than the other zones. Perhaps it has more heads on it.
However, best place to start would be to let that zone run and then walk around the yard and look for water rising to the surface. Sometimes leaks can take a long while to notice so be patient.
