Hi, we're looking at replacing a 10-year old Kenmore softener that isn't functioning anymore... hardness is 29. We have high iron content also, but have a Hellenbrand Iron Curtain, which does a wonderful job on the iron. We have two quotes for new softeners, 1 cu. ft units, Water Right ($650) or Hellenbrand ($800). Sorry, don't have model numbers... but any general opinions? It seems Hellenbrand is fairly well respected from other posts, but can't find anything on Water Right?

Water Rite has been selling softeners since the 60's. It's either a Fleck 5600 or a Clack WS-1. Both are good valve but I don't like electronics on softheners. Hellenbrand uses Fleck and does not make a softener (nor does Water Rite). They buy componets and put them together.
