I'm installing new base cabinets in my kitchen and the floor is very uneven. Therefore, I've had to use several shims. My question is, do I need to apply wood glue to the shims to keep them in place, or will the weight of the cabinet suffice. I'm worried that the cabinets will shift, which has already happened to one of them. Luckily the countertop hasn't been installed yet. Any other tips regarding shimming would be greatly appreciated.

Gluing the shims won't be necessary, but couldn't hurt (how's that for a PC answer?). Really, the weight of the cabinets, PLUS screwing them to the studs and to each other's stiles should be sufficient to keep them in line with each other and within level.

For the most part, the shims are fine without glue, but I have a 15" cabinet that stands alone and could only put one screw to secure it (only one stud behind it). This is the cabinet I am having difficulty with keeping in place. Perhaps I will only glue this one.

Roger that. It may be necessary. You may want to add a screw a little lower on the stud as well. It may help racking.
