I have a Lenovo T61 laptop with a touchpad. Every day I disable TouchPad tapping, but the next day tapping is back, and I can tap my way to Mouse properties, the UltraNav tab and the TouchPad Settings tab. Then, under TouchPad Properties, "Tapping" is missing.....I can then tap cancel, and at that point, it "remembers" that tapping is disabled. If I don't go thru this exercise, tapping is enabled all day. I've Googled various itterations of this issue, and I believe it's a fairly common issue, but is there a fix?

After you disable the tapping, are you just hitting "cancel"? You should hit "apply", then close the window. It won't remember it unless you apply the change.

I hit "apply", "OK", and "apply" again, on the Mouse Properties UltraNav tab, then "OK" again and the dialog box goes away. My preference is remembered for the duration of my session, UNLESS I walk away long enough to have the screen saver activate (in which case the preference is "forgotten"), or UNTIL I shut down, in which case the situation I described in the original post occurs. Trust me, it's not something I'm doing or not doing; like I said in the original post, when I power up each day, I can tap my way all the way to the screen that lists TouchPad Properties, which should include "Tapping" among them, but it doesn't. At that point, I can click Cancel or OK (while "Overview" is highlighted), and it returns me to Mouse Properties and remembers that I disabled Tapping!
