I have a Jet Septic System with a problem! A county Board of Health inspector told us we have a sewage violation, and needs to correct By October 25, 2009.

The inspection report stated:

"System is not aerating. Check air lines and all other aeration components to ensure system is aerating properly. Motor running but not aerating."

We had the septic system pumped about 1 1/2 years ago... the first time since we bought the home. At the time, the company that did the pumping said that there was an area for water in the system... under some rocks, as I recall. The company was supposed to add water or rinse it out, but they did not have a long enough hose to to reach our septic. So, nothing was done for that part of the system.

I am not sure if a low level of water in the system, some blockage or a totally different problem would cause the motor to run, but not aerate.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would like to be able to fix any problem myself, but I am not too sure where I would even begin.
