Finishing a basement. I will have 2 beds, a bath and one big room besides. Need some ideas on electric heat. I have no ductwork in the basement because it is under a modular home. I had a 200 amp panel put in when the basement was built so I should have plenty of service. I'm not so much worried about how cost efficient the heat is because I don't want to spend a lot of money right away. We plan (within 10 years) to install a heat pump that will heat the whole house. Need some ideas on what I could use. I'm leaning towards cove heating but my wife is not excited about the look of it.

First thought that comes to mind, is there an emergency egress exit???
What other types of fuel are available?? Depending on your layout, gas space heaters could be considerably less expensive to operate than electric. I would recommend that they be vented to the outside. Electric is easy, usually inexpensive to install, but costly to operate. It can, however, be easily controlled with thermostats.

There are 4 egress exits. Didn't want to do gas because I would rather not do any extra venting outdoors. So let's talk about electric heat and my options there... please.

Tom,
You will want to plan for a minimum of 6 watts per square foot for adequate heating with baseboards.
