Hello All. Just spent the better part of 3 hours reading some great advice on here and doing some searches looking for an answer to my question. Not finding it - I thought I'd post this new thread.
The wifey wants me to do the 'fake' wainscoting in our lower level (fake wainscoting being baseboard + chair rail + series of framed in boxes using molding) - not the real deal of sheets of wainscoting.
Anyways - any suggestions on the type of molding to use for the frames/boxes below the chair rail ? I was thinking that a molding with a common profile would make it easier to hide the cuts and probably make the product go farther (I was thinking like batten or half round), but those are pretty plain and uninteresting.
Would anyone who has done this prior share what they used ?

welcome to the forums.
Just to give you some ideas, you might look at some of the profiles here. (http://originalmikey.tripod.com/id2.html)
In "Catalog 2", I have used profiles 2010, 2020, 2380, depending on the size of the surrounding trim, size of room, etc. (page 1 of 34).
And for a richer look, I've paneled walls with frames (rails & stiles) made entirely of 3/4" veneered plywood, with insets of 1/4" plywood, and trimmed the inside perimeter of the resulting boxes with 2110. (page 8 of 34).
