I have double french doors that lead to my deck which are about 6 years old...the lever handle on the door that is used the most has for about 1 1/2 years fallen off easy; my husband would "tighten" something (?) and that would temporarily fix it. Now, however, it has fallen off, my husband is not here to "fix" it, and I cannot seem to get it to do anything but fall off. What can I do to repair this handle without purchasing a new set (one for each door so they match)? Thanks for any insight anybody might be able to offer...

Welcome to the forums.
Depending in the brand of lockset that you have, on the inside escushion (the plate against the door) there may be a couple of screws that hold the lockset in the door.
If that escushion is smooth (no screws in it), there is probably a small set screw on the shank of the lever handle that holds it in place.

Lefty is definitely on the right track.
If the handle fell off, the set screw has simply backed out (assuming it uses a set screw). These set screws are usually tightened with an allen key (hex wrench), or sometimes just a standard or phillips screw driver if it is really old.
If that isn't the case, there might be a spring loaded retainer. This will have to be depressed with a poke tool of some kind (such as a small nail) to allow the lever to slide back over it, after which the spring loaded retain will pop back into place. Good luck!
