Hey all,

I'm having some trouble locating a good reference (book or website) for a cooktop duct installation I need to install in the lower level of a 3-story house. What I've found online is very simplistic, assuming a cooktop up against an exterior wall, with no vertical rise once outside.

My kitchen is one room removed from an exterior wall. I have a route to the wall picked out, via a combination of 3x10 and 7" round duct.

Once I'm outside, I have to run exposed up to the top of the house.

I'm looking for reference material that covers best practices for joining the duct sections (mastic, not just tape?), for calculating whether I need a booster fan, and what gauge/type of sheetmetal or covering to use for the exterior run of the ducting.

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated!
