I just bought a 3br/1 bath house. I would like to add a small basic bathroom to the basement, but all of the plumbing is run overhead in the basement. Is there a way to add a full bathroom down there? I've heard of upflush toilets that pump the waste up. But what about a drain for the tub/sink?

There are two types of up-flush toilets. The water pressure type with out a pump would not do everything you want but some of the ones with pumps have connections for lavatory and tub drains built in. Also you need to determine the actual depth of the sewer line. If it is deep enough you could go straight in but given the complications of cutting through the basement floor even if it was low enough a pump may be a better solution. How is your basement drained?
