OK this is a little unusual. With my old house, before I add insulation to the top floor ceiling, I want to do some preventative work to the lathe and plaster which is just starting to crack a little, and over time will come loose.

Question. Is there any construction adhesive that one would recommend that I could apply when on top of the top floor ceiling, to adhere the lathe and plaster to the joists? (I would be above the top flr ceiling, sitting on the joists, hopefully applying some adhesive.

I recognize that I would have to vacuum out all dust and dirt and loose stuff first.

I am hoping to strengthen the ceiling that way, before I add the fiberglass insulation on top of it, in between the joists.

Thanks...

There is a system for fixing wood lathe plaster that I saw on This Old House. Norm likes it. It is a multi step process, but is supposed to permently fix plaster. Check their website.

Just Bill,

That was great advice. I found the product and it is specifically made as an adhesive for plaster and wood. Thank you!
