Greetings All,
My wife and myself are about to begin a living room remodel and have had thoughts of adding a fireplace. Our house is a 1940's row home in the city. Our chimney runs up through the center of our house and is located just behind the center of one of the walls in our living room. Is it possible to add a fireplace to the existing chimney without affecting the way the furnace and water heater work in conjuction with that same chimney?

As far as I can tell in looking from the roof the chimney is sleeved and has double tubes so basically we would like to know if it would be far to expensive to prepare this chimney to accept a wood burning fireplace or if it would simply be sufficient in its current state.

Thank You in advance for any and all information in regards to this!
