Hi Everyone, I posted awhile back about issues with my two zone system not always keeping the compressor on. I'm now fed up with it, and would like to go to one thermostat and just remove the zone system completely.

My question is: I have the board in the attic and a damper. Apparently, the person that put it in did not install a bypass damper or what the tech called a zone sensor. The damper is electronically operated. My question is, can I just disconnect the wires coming from the thermostat and splice them to the wires going from the board to the actual AC/Heating unit? Obviously disconnecting any other wires that are going to the board so I can remove it.

Also, what do I do about the damper. Is there a way to manually have it open 50%/50% or whatever? Thanks!

You should remove the damper. Also you might have to rework all your ductwork to make the airflow right.
