Doors and Windows - What doorhandle should I use on this door?

You are looking at my closet door in the bathroom on the main floor. What would be the best door handle to use on it? The house came with an ugly bronze door handle while the door handle on the main door is chrome and the facets are chrome as well. Any idea on what would look good? I am leaning towards using the same handle as on the main door, but without a lock.

Also, does anyone recognize the make and model of the door handle on the main door? I looked for it at Home Depot, but could not find it.

I can't tell you the brand etc of your existing lock but what you'd want to look for is a chrome lever passage knobset/lockset.This is a set with no lock of any kind on either side but will latch closed,has a working bolt

Look on the bolt end and see if there's a brand name stamped on it.

If it was installed by the builder I'd expect it to be a national brand that makes bulk builder grade locks like Kwikset or Schlage.

If you can't find the exact match, replace the lockset on the bathroom door as well. That way you can get the same for both doors. The closet will be a 'passage' and the bathroom door will be a 'privacy'.

Ok, thanks for the search terms. So you guys think a lever door handle is better than the round door knob or other alternative? I kinda think the lever would look best.

But it's not exact.

If thats what the rest of the house/bathrooms has..then levers would be best. They do make it easier if you have an arm load of something or wet hands. The hard part might be finding them...you will probably have to special order. And to get an identical match you'll have to know the maker. I'd take the main door handle off and stop by your friendly local neighborhood locksmith.

Lever or round -- which ever the rest of the house is. That's how I would select the new lockset. Keep them the same.

No, there is no doorstop...it's a bad design. I guess they ran out of space and said, "Ahh, hell with it, I'll just put another door in."

You should be able to control both doors with a hinge pin door doorstops which would at least keep them from hitting when one was completely closed and someone opened the other.It's hard to tell where the knobs hit each door but a protective guard might also be worth a look although they don't look all that great.

The leverset on your "main door" looks like an odd style. The latch in the other door though appears to be Kwikset, so it's a fair chance the other leverset is an old Kwikset as well (although I don't recognize it). Kwikset does offer a variety of different styles, but since it seems you are looking for just a passage function (passage means it doesn't lock, just used to hold the door closed), you might be able to get away with pretty much any brand. Schlage has some different styles, as does Emtek and Baldwin (although Kwikset is likely your cheapest bet). Good luck!
