since I could not afford all Vinyl all the way around my entire yard and sides, I decided to go with wood privacy on the 2 sides of a small part of yard and make the gates wood on both sides and then all the bigger Gut of the yard surrounded by Vinyl privacy fencing. I would like to know if I could stop the wood fencing coming from the side at the wood post and then run the Vinyl fencing just a little past that post coming in a cross position so that the post hole is away from the post hole of the wood fence........will there be a huge gap in the fence from the 2 touching or will that be alrightand be fairly close? I plan in oder words to make a U with the vinyl fence and coming from the sides but the wood fence against the vinyl using its own wood post but pull the vinyl post close enough to the wood fence to make them touch so a gap would not be left for anything (animals) to squeeze inside.........wish there was like a note pad here so i could draw what I am saying here so others could clearly understand what I am doing..............maybe someone may get it........:p

I umderstand what you're talking about, and here's how I would do it.

Install the run of vinyl fence first. That will have a post at each end. When you build the wood fences, face mount the rails to the posts. Use the vinyl posts as just another post for each of the runs of wood fence and mount your wood rails to them. For your wood fence runs, I would have the first wood post about 2' from the vinyl post, and the rest set at 8' apart. Use longer wood rails so that they would span from the vinyl post to the second wood post (about 10' of total span for the rails).
