We removed the (ugly) arms from this chair as we were rehabbing it, then my daughter did what's natural: she leaned back in the chair, to put her feet up, and the chair cracked.

What would be an easy and effective way to brace this area of the chair, without replacing the arms? I don't need a fix that's complicated or hard. The chair isn't worth the trouble.
TIA!
John

Some small braces, maybe, like these:
Corner Braces - Rockler Woodworking Tools (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=353&filter=braces)
Only difficulty would be the angle involved. :coffee:

Great idea on the corner braces, but that cracked glue joint would still need to be fixed before you mount them and let your daughter lean back in it again,. I have a feeling that the original joint wasn't that good to begin with.

Good catch, Herm; I didn't look close enough at the pic. Also not sure the area to be braced will be 90 degrees which would complicate things.

We bought and old rocker for the porch that was missing the bent wood braces and I used some brass tubing flattened the ends and bent them to the right angle to fit from the back to the seat.

Corner braces will help, but to add more stability you might have to add some dowels to the legs.
