Hi Forum,

Can you please advise me what to do about the loss of sand from in between the pavers on my patio? The patio is made from 8" x 4" (brick like) concrete pavers, it is only 1 1/2 years old but the company that installed it is out of business. I have tried two times to re-apply sand that I got from Home Depot, but it seems to wash or blow away. Perhaps I applied the wrong type of sand. Is there a "right" type of sand for this? Is there anything I can/should add to the sand (or use in its place) like portland cement that will stay?

Thank in advance for your ideas and advice with this.

Regards,
Andy

Fine sand is the answer to the type of sand to use. I worked for a guy who always had us mix portland with the sand, 3 sand to 1 portland, before we laid the brick. Then we swept fine sand on top, until it filled the cracks. It takes a lot of time.

Many people here don't agree with the use of portland with the sand under the brick. There is a ready mix you can buy. I don't know what it has in it. I only used it once.
