Help! While cleaning my father's mobile home in Fla, I found a white powdery substance (looked like baby powder) on the carpet, especially along the baseboard. I was able to vacuum most of it with effort. The mobile home has not been used for nearly 3 years. The carpet is quite old, maybe 20+ years? Could it be due to bugs? Any other possibilities?

If my memory serves me right, carpet backing used to have cement type products in it and it would break down over time.
Also, if there was every any drywall work done, either cutting holes, etc, it might just have been drywall dust.
