After experiencing problems with the 8 year old Ultrasoft 800 and after consulting with technical support:
1- We cleaned out the whole system
2- Put in one bag of salt
3- Put in resin cleaner
4- Checked the float level
5- Cleaned up filters and o-rings on top unit. Checked for suction during "brine" which was good.
6- Blew into hose which leads to float to make sure the line was clean.
Still-- the water is staying about 6-8 inches above the salt level. Unit is still not functioning normally.

Are you sure the float is all the way to the bottom? It may draw at first, then stop. If this is the case, the drain flow control or drain line may be plugged. Mark a spot on the inside of the salt tank at the water level. Put unit into a draw cycle and watch for 20 min.
