I sanded down our kitchen floor which is softwood but cant afford to install new hard wood so we have put 1 coat of matte clear water based poly on it thus far. My question is can I put a coat of pecan colored polyshades on it to add color to it? its not as dark as we would have liked but I didnt know if the oilbased would adhere to the water based? any input is helpfull and welcome. thank you

The polyshades should adhere fine to the waterbased although polyshades isn't recomended for use on floors. This is mainly because if/when the poly wears away - so will the extra color in the tinted poly. As long as you apply 2 coats of clear poly over the polyshades - it should be ok.
Waterbased poly dries clear and doesn't change the look of the wood except for sheen. Oil base poly will darken the natural colors in the wood and will amber some with age. If you apply the polyshades [or any oil base coating] over any raw wood, it won't be the same color as it will be over the waterbased poly.
While it's ok to apply the oil poly over a thin coat of the waterbased poly, it is not a good idea to apply waterbased poly over the oil base poly.

Other than stripping the current finish and applying a stain, a tinted poly is the only option.
