I had a mechanical contractor replace the compressor on my tempstar package heat pump condensing unit 14 months ago. It has gone bad again and he is claiming it only has a 12 month parts warrantee.

I am told by another that most cokeman compressor warrentees are 5 years.

One sounds like there is another problem causing the compressor to go bad. I do not want to pay another $650 to install another compressor to have the same problem 14 months from now.

We also had the aluminum wire from the unit to the fuse box replaced with with a new copper wire about 9 months ago.

Can I pull the compressor and try to get it exchanged under warrantee?

Most residential units come with a 5 yr comp. warranty. However replacement comp are 1yr, you can purchase an extended warranty though. I would want to know what made it go bad in 14 mo. $650 to install a compressor is CHEAP.

How old is the heat pump?
