Our house has a weird bathroom closet that appears to have once been covered by a bifold door. The opening is 24 inches wide and 90 inches tall. I have been looking all over the internet and have been unable to find anything this size that might work. Do 90 inch tall bifold doors exist or are we going to have something custom made? Help!

Welcome to the forums!
I've painted a few houses that had 8' doors but I don't remember any bifolds that tall. Would reframing the opening to fit a standard 80" door be feasable?

Yes, I guess reframing would be a possibility. I just wanted to find out whether or not it would be possible to find a door that was the perfect size to begin with!

Special order from almost anywhere that sells them...probably cheaper than reframing and all...

Not sure about a special order door being cheaper than (reframing) placing a new header at the height of a standard door and patching the drywall or plaster to bring it to the new header. I recently needed two 18" inch doors for a Linen closet and a utility room in a remodel job went to get the doors knew i was going to have to special order them a standard height 80" inch door at 18" inches wide would have been $87 bucks each on special order from home depot. BUT a standard 80" tall Bifold door in 36" width was $49.99 HMMMMMMM brain storm in the middle of home depot. Purchased and disasembled the 36" bifold and got my self two 18" X 80" doors, since bifold luan doors are the exact same thickness and material as a standard pre hung door only needed to do the hinge mortises and the knob assembly holes myself. Was well worth the time to do that for the savings of about $125.00 bucks.
I'd suggest putting in a header at the standard 80" inches and patch the drywall or plaster to the new header and purchase a standard height door. the whole header and patch job would be about 30 bucks tops. Far less than what the difference would be between a special order door and a off the shelf standard size.

It's been awhile since I've looked at a bifold but I'm fairly certain they are thinner than your typical interior hollow core door...... but that was still a great economical substitution for a custom made door

Actually mark Luan bifold doors are the exact same thickness as a standard pre hung luan interior door. The only situation where they are thinner is if you choose the louvered style which are only 1" thick instead of the standard 1 3/8" of a pre hung interior luan door.
