Hello, We have live in our home since 2000. We purchaed a Hague water softener that we actually did with a lease to purchase. Hague Hydro-Clean III. Now we need to purchase a new system. I see prices from $400 to $5,000 and all kinds of models and brands. Should I go by the specs of the old system to compare my options to a new system? At that time his water anaysis showed 14 hardness, ph 7.4, Zero for all the other ones listed except other was Chlorine 25m, and Phosphate 20gpm. Hard to read it is hand written. Our Hague is the HCIII25. I do not know what capacity - can I measure the salt bin to figure out what the grains per salt. We have the 3/4 inch hookup. Hague is a very good product, however I am thinking of getting a Fleck now to save money. How to I know which Fleck model to purchase. Two people in our home. The report of hardness from our Mudd District is posted as 180/mg/L which is the average on a one year period. Can anyone tell me what I should do to find out what I should purchase? If you ask me for more information and what you need would you be able to figure out which models would work best? My husband can install it himself.
Thank you - what is it - Hague makes water for Pepsi and Culligan makes the water for Coka cola....
Thanks - Susan

Go with a 1 cu ft Fleck 5600 meter demand system. I'm been dealing with the Fleck valve for 19+ year, 13 of which was in Austin.

Fleck 5600 Meter 32,000 Grain Water Softener
This Water Softening System Includes the Following:
•9x48 Mineral Tank
•14x14x34 Square Salt Tank
•1.00 Cu Ft Hi-Cap Resin
•Valve-to-Brine Tank Tubing 3/8"
•Brine Tank 2310 Safety Overflow Assembly
•2.00 GPM Backwash Rate
•8.50 GPM Service Flow Rate
•Shipping Weight: 95 Lbs
Is this the one you recommend? Also should I have a regulator also since the water is so hard here?
Also - I am seeing this "new model" of the one above - Fleck 5600SXT Meter 32,000 Grain Water Softener and about the same price range. Is anyone experienced with this model and think it is the better purchase? Is this the one you were recommended?
Thanks. Susan

The sxt is the electronic verson of the 5600. I don't like electronics on water softeners. Stick with the meter demand.
