I have a customer who has a small kitchen with what appears to be white marble tile. The black backing of a throw rug caused a dark gray stain in the tile.

I'm looking for product recommendations to get the tile white again.

If the mat was a rubber backed mat...there is no solution. What happens is the polymers in the rubber macking migrate to the polymers in the floor. This is due to trapped moisture and just the friction of the mat on the floor. Dont try to be a hero and start trying a ton of stuff......you do not want to turn someone elses problem into yours.

Actually, it was my idea to try to salvage the floor. The lady wants a new floor. Laquer thinner was suggested but I haven't tried it yet.

most of the time this situation is permanent. Let the lady decide weither or not she wants you to try further cleaning and have her release you from the liabilty if there is damage

There is no liability. She was already set on a new floor, anyway.

just be careful...people may say this or that...but i have seen people get burned many times...customers say oh thats ok when something goes wrong...next thing you know your insurance contacts you about some claim..if its not in writing it doesnt exist
