What are the long term effects of placing a second layer of fiberglass shingles over a sound layer of 3 tab shingles? I was told that this would reduce the life of my new roof by 25%. Is this a problem or is there any other issue that should be concidered?

Thats pretty much the common concensus. 25-50% reduction depending on your weather. Go to the makers website for the best info.
