Live in a mobile home, installed laminate in bedroom last year, floors are cold (have throw rugs on walking areas in winter); about to install in living room...can we use some kind of insulation under the laminate other than regular underlayment padding, like that insulated board stuff?

Concerned about insulation compressing in much walked on area (from kitchen across LR to hallway). Could this be a problem?

Welcome to the forums!! Any effective insulation you have will need to be under the structure. Compressed materials such as the underlayment don't offer any insulation, only cushion and reduced air infiltration (if any). Most mobile homes come with a degree of insulation under the floor with hard tar board tacked up to hold it in place. Have you checked to see if the insulation is still in place? You can't use any underlayment other than that specified by the manufacturer, and that must be on a hard surface.
