The prior owner of our house covered the fireplace with z-brick. We've removed the brick and want to refinish the fireplace. Is there an easy way to get that asbestos "stuff" off? or is there a fireproof material we can cover it with? We were thinking of ceramic tile, but I don't know if it can withstand the heat. We have a fireplace insert. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
